jotted

Handwritten notes. None of the bloat.

Just start writing

There is one tool. It is a pen. It knows how hard you are pressing and it smooths out the wobble. When the thought is done, one key clears the page. Undo brings it back if the thought wasn’t.

A highlighter. That’s the whole list.

Technically it’s still the pen. It’s the fourth pen size, which means our “one tool” claim survives on a technicality and you get a wide, translucent stroke in any of the six colors. It even multiplies like real marker on a white page. We didn’t add a ruler.

Draw on anything

Paste a screenshot. Drop in a PDF. On the Mac, press ⇧⌘J, drag a box around any part of your screen, and it opens as a fresh jot with your pen already uncapped. Circle the thing. Write “why?” next to it. Send it.

Claude can look at your jots

A tiny MCP server lets Claude Code see what you drew. Capture the bug, circle it, type “look at my latest jot”, and Claude gets the picture. No dragging screenshots into a terminal like some kind of animal. Two commands to set up.

Gets out as easily as it got in

⌘E hands you a PNG cropped to your ink, background included. Hold ⇧ for an SVG with every stroke as a real vector path, because somebody will want to scale it to a billboard. No export dialog with eleven checkboxes.

Great on a screenshare

Press H and every scrap of interface disappears. Just your handwriting on black, which is the only part anyone watching cares about.

Lined paper, if you insist

A faint grid, ruled lines, or dots behind your writing. Or nothing. Nothing is the default.

No color picker. You’re welcome.

Six colors that look good on black, chosen for you. Need a seventh? We don’t have it.

No typing. On purpose.

No text tool, no shape tool, no layers, no templates. If you wanted those, you already have an app for that. This is the other one.

No clouds, no accounts, no terms, no problem.

Everything lives on your own disk as plain files. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to sync, nobody to email you about an updated privacy policy.
